Understanding the Penis Pumps
At first glance, the penis vacuum pump looks like a cylinder. The cylinder acts as the vacuum that fits into the penis using either a motorized or a manual pump with the purpose of creating suction. As the penis pump produces a vacuum surrounding the penis, the blood starts drawing towards the penile tissues, engorging them. In a penis pump, the idea is to create higher vacuum because it will produce higher blood pressure in the penis. But you have to understand that too much pressure on the penis would result in a vascular damage.
How the Penis Pump Works
A regular penis pump features a clear cylinder made of plastic material and a pump, which can be either, be battery-operated or manual like a hand. The cylinder will enclose the penis at its flaccid state. Then using a gel such as a lubricant, the cylinder is tightly sealed by pressing the lubricant down against the penis shaft inside the cylinder. This will result in a semi-vacuum as the air is pumped out from the cylinder.
With suction working, the penis draws in more blood, engorging it. If the desired erection or hardness is achieved, the plastic ring is cast from the cylinder’s end extend around the penis base. This will ensure blood trapped within the penis and erection for as long as 30 minutes. There are men who would like to have two rings to achieve sturdier penis and better-sustained erection. A penis pump will likely require two weeks to master it. Then it will only take three minutes to use it to achieve the desired erection. However, a penis pump cannot be a permanent solution to treating an erectile dysfunction.
Disadvantages of a Penis Pump
Like all other methods available for enhancing the penis, the penis pumps too have its own share of drawbacks. They are the following:
- Short-term Effect . Penis pumps can be effective in treating impotence. But, as soon as it is taken off, the vacuum produced earlier disappear. Along with the disappearance is the blood previously drawn towards the penis. The result is a flaccid state.
- No Permanent Enlargement Effect . A penis pump cannot enlarge the penis. Sure, it can help attain erection, which comes with an increase in penis size; but as soon as the pump is taken off, the penis will shrink back to its normal state and size. Medical experts also warn against overusing and misusing the penis pump too swiftly as it will result in scarring of the tissue and deforming the penis.
The British Journal or Urology publication, a study (volume 97, Issue 4, pages 777-778, April 2006), conducted on 37 adult men who are sexually active were handed over with penis vacuum pump which they should use thrice a week with each session lasting for 20 minutes. This went on for six months. The researchers found out that the penis vacuum pump can deliver psychological satisfaction to some of the participants, but the pump is not efficient for extending the penis size permanently.
Also in Britain another study was conducted to a group of men who were given penis pump treatment. After the research, the men did report an increase of 0.3 centimeters to their penis.
- Limited Purpose. A penis pump is particularly helpful to a man who maintains a steady relationship, but cannot achieve consistent erection. It is not really very attractive to men who are single and do not have regular sex life. A similar thing can be said of men who suffer from psychological type of erectile dysfunction. Among women who have partners who used penis pumps, they observe that the penis is not as warm as it should be.
- Safety risks . Penis pumps also have risks such as the incidence of bursting the capillaries, getting blisters, or develop a problem with circulation, which can lead to impotence and other issues. There are also reported cases, when testes are accidentally suctioned into the cylinder, causing injury and extreme pain. Some men also reported the cylinder rim, which can cut through the penis skin and cause permanent damage to the penis ligaments over time. Too much suction is also unknowingly produced if the penis pump is used without first reading the material that comes with it. Too much pressure can lead to permanent injury.
